02/27/2008 WHAT BENNY IS UP TO....

I am in Europe right now working as a musical director for a play called "FREAKS" in Jena, Germany. Its fun as hell because i get to teach a bunch of actors how to play punk rock...something i have always wanted to do but never did because i was a "Jazz Musician". Then i am off to ireland to play with this great , young guitarist Mark Mcknight..hard and interesting music. Then I am in Portugal 3 times this year playing with David Binney and Joao Lencastre as well as Hugo Antunes and my band. Then I have to get to NYC for a CD release for a new band I am in with grammy nominated guitarist, Will Bernard and Andy Emer and Mark Ferber. Really good collective where we all contribute original material. After that, my trio will play festivals and clubs in Greece, Slovenia, Germany, Belgium, France in Matthieu Chazarenc's home town...he is a drummer from Paris that I have been playing with a lot..awesome guy and great drummer...on top of that I am doing some concerts with the German singer, Lisa Bassenge (who is on Universal Records). We are also recording a live record this year to document the trio's progress...will let you know more about that later. I am very excited about 2008...things are getting better every year. Please check back for updates soon...AT www.bennylackner.com
