Acoustic bassist! Composer! Female! Bandleader! Contemporary! Jazz! Creative! Orchestral! Music!

Bassist and composer Anne Mette Iversen is leading two ongoing projects. Her jazz quartet; Anne Mette Iversen Quartet and the project "Best of the West". Anne Mette Iversen released the double album "Best of the West + Many Places" on the new Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records (BJUR) label in April 2008. This release features both projects and has been received really well by the media as well as among audiences. "Best of the West" is a collaboration between Anne Mette Iversen Quartet and the string quartet 4Corners.
Prior to this most recent release she has a quartet album out: "This Is My House" from 2006 (Okapi Records).

In 2004 Anne Mette released "On the Other Side" w/Anne Mette Iversen Group, a CD also of her original compositions; music set to modern Danish poetry and arranged for string quartet, vocal and jazz quintet.

A new project in the making is described as "Jazz Art Songs" which is a collection of new songs for vocal accompanied by piano, bass and clarinet.

Anne Mette has been living and performing in New York City since 1998. She has a BFA degree in Jazz performance from The New School University, is a former classical pianist at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Denmark, and she studied bass at The Rhythmic Conservatory in Copenhagen as well.

Anne Mette has toured the US, Europe, Brazil and Greenland with various groups; and has performed at prominent European festivals and various other venues world wide. She has recorded as a sideman in many different settings, from modern jazz and singer-songwriter-releases to a Danish drum'n'bass album some years ago.

Anne Mette works as a performer as well as a jazz and classical music composer. Her works have been commissioned by play-writers, churches, singers and poets, and has been featured at a design exhibit at the Danish Design Council in Copenhagen. She has also performed at, and curated events for, the Royal Danish Consulate in New York and The Royal Danish Embassy in Washington.

Anne Mette has been rewarded several grants in recognition of her talent. These include working grants from The Danish Arts Foundation and a Cultural Award from the American Scandinavian Society in New York. She has also enjoyed one months artist residency for compositional work-studies at the San Cataldo Cloister on the Amalfi Coast, in Italy.
